The Specialist Teaching Service is expanding sensory support for children with hearing, vision or multi-sensory needs. We are seeking to appoint a Team Manager to manage a combined sensory team of Specialist Teachers to work across Lancashire supporting children with SEND, settings and their families.

Please note that whilst the role is to lead and manage a hearing, vision and/or multi-sensory needs team, we welcome applications from those with significant SEND leadership and management experience who may not be a qualified teacher of vision impaired (QTVI) / multi-sensory impaired (QTMSI) / D/deaf (QToD) learners, but they are willing to train. In the absence of being a QTVI / QTMSI / QToD, demonstrating an understanding of sensory barriers to learning and the impact on the child or young person is key. Additionally, using examples of when you have supported children with a sensory impairment to improve outcomes will support being successful in this role. This post is a full-time management post required to work 32.5 hours across 5 days term-time only.

The Specialist Teaching Service is a specialist peripatetic specialist teaching service that supports the local Authority and Lancashire Settings and Schools in meeting the needs of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. It is a very exciting time to join the service further developing support services for children and young people with sensory needs in Lancashire. The service consists of Specialist Teaching Teams highly qualified and experienced Specialist Teachers, Specialist Higher Level Teaching Assistants, Deaf Role Model, Habilitation support offer and Sensory Technicians. We work closely with parents and other agencies to support children and young people in a range of settings including at home, early years settings, schools and colleges. From birth (0-25) we support the youngest children with SEND through Portage and Early Years Sensory Support.
