A well-established residential care provider is currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Care Assistant (Nights) to join their night team. This is a vital role within a residential care setting, supporting residents with high-quality, person-centred care while providing leadership and guidance to the night staff team.
The successful candidate will have previous medication administration experience, which is essential for this role.
Hours: 33 hours per week (night shifts)
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in line with individual care plans
- Assist residents with daily living activities including personal care, mobility, dressing, bathing, and nutrition
- Safely administer and accurately record medications in accordance with policies and best practice (essential)
- Act as the senior member of staff on night shifts, providing leadership and support to the care team
- Mentor and support junior staff, promoting best practice and a professional working environment
- Complete care documentation clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner
- Maintain a safe, calm, and respectful environment for residents and staff
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, infection control, health & safety, and regulatory requirements
- Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, or changes in residents' conditions
- Promote dignity, respect, choice, and independence at all times
Essential Criteria
?? Medication experience is mandatory
- Proven experience administering medication within a care setting
- Experience working in elderly or residential care
- Ability to work night shifts on a rota basis
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding and infection control
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to care
- Strong communication skills with residents, families, and colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
- High standards of professionalism and attention to detail
Desirable Criteria
- Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Level 2 NVQ with willingness to work towards Level 3
- Additional training such as Medication Management, Manual Handling, or First Aid
- Previous experience supervising or leading a care team
