Mechanical Technician – On site contract
Salary: circa £41,500
Contract: Fixed term, 12 months,
Location: On-site, Newcastle upon Tyne
Role Overview
- Hands-on mechanical assembly role within a heavy engineering environment
- Assembly of large steel fabrications, hydraulic cylinders and operating systems
- Working from engineering drawings and parts lists to deliver high-quality builds
- Ensuring compliance with production schedules, quality standards and safety requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble complex mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Build and fit large-scale steel fabrications and hydraulic equipment
- Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings
- Perform hydraulic builds, testing and system integration
- Maintain safe working practices in line with company and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure efficient workflow
- Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving activities
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven mechanical assembly experience in a heavy engineering environment
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong decision-making and fault-finding capability
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident working independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- HNC or equivalent technical qualification (or relevant practical experience)
