General Store Manager - Wembley (Permanent)
Salary: up to £90,000 per annum plus bonus and benefits.
Role Overview: This entrepreneurial Branch Manager role offers full autonomy and P&L ownership in a newly opened builders' merchant store. The branch has been open for 3‑6 months and now focuses on growth, optimisation and scale. You will be trusted with complete accountability for performance, people and profit, operating with the autonomy normally reserved for owner‑managed businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Full end‑to‑end ownership of branch performance, including P&L accountability
- Developing and executing the branch growth strategy
- Building, leading and inspiring a high‑performing management and branch team
- Growing trade accounts, footfall, sales and margin
- Creating a service‑led, commercially sharp trading environment
- Driving standards, availability, safety and compliance
- Acting as the senior figurehead for the branch within the local market
- Embedding a strong, independent‑merchant culture with pace and accountability
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a Branch Manager / General Manager within builders' merchants or trade‑focused environments
- A commercially astute leader with demonstrable P&L responsibility
- Entrepreneurial mindset – comfortable treating the branch as your own business
- Strong people leadership skills with the ability to build teams from the ground up
- Passionate about trade customers, service and local relationships
- Confident operating autonomously while aligning to wider business goals
