Buyer, Global Procurement – Promotional Items
Our multi-national FMCG client uses promotional items in a variety of ways within the marketing and trade marketing functions, playing an integral role in supporting trade relationships and building engagement with consumers. Promotional items are typically branded and cover categories such as outdoor furniture, glassware and gifts/gadgets.
Responsibilities
- Execute the sector strategy for all Promotional Items spend in Europe including Russia and Turkey.
- Lead sourcing programmes across the category to deliver benefits of cost, control, quality and innovation through RFIs, tenders, production and process optimisation.
- Build sustainable supplier relationships and manage contracts with key suppliers.
- Conduct spend analysis.
- Leverage knowledge and networking skills with regional European procurement teams and external sources to drive optimal results and evolve the management of the category.
Qualifications
- Preferably degree educated.
- Proven experience within marketing categories, ideally in a procurement role and with some client‑side experience in a global FMCG, consumer health (or similar).
- Highly effective interpersonal skills to develop relationships with key stakeholders and clearly communicate plans and benefits to gain buy‑in and compliance in a non‑mandate culture at all levels.
- Proven ability to work within a complex matrix organization with frequent changes.
- Ability to work remotely from key stakeholders and utilize a range of communication tools (e.g. Webex, tele‑presence) to communicate within a diverse culture (often with people for whom English is a second language).
- Energy and enthusiasm to drive results.
- Keen analytical mind and excellent IT software skills.
- Solid computer skills; experience in SAP is a plus.
- Effective communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel within Europe as required.
Eligibility: You should be resident in the UK and have recent experience in the print, packaging or paper sectors.
