Role Summary

The Group Tax Manager reports to the Group Financial Controller and is accountable for leading the implementation of the Group’s tax strategy, governance framework, controls and processes. The role has primary responsibility for governing, determining and reporting the Group’s UK tax position, and partners with overseas teams and external advisers to ensure the tax position of foreign subsidiaries is appropriately recorded. In performing this role, the Group Tax Manager will direct external specialist support where appropriate, and review their output. This position is part‑time, working three days per week.

Principle Accountabilities

Nature and Scope

The majority of the Group Tax Manager’s time is spent delivering the principal accountabilities, with planning horizons of up to three years aligned to the company’s annual financial calendar and planning cycle. Unplanned activity is linked mainly to corporate or financial restructuring and acquisitions. The individual is a recognised subject matter expert and trusted adviser, providing authoritative guidance to senior internal stakeholders. This includes the CFO, Financial Controller, Senior Commercial and Investor Relations Manager, and the Head of Procurement, as well as other stakeholders outside of their immediate team. They also engage with external stakeholders including finance providers, tax advisers, HMRC and external auditors.
