Proposals Engineer
Our specialised manufacturing client based in the heart of Telford is looking for a Full Time Permanent Proposals Engineer to join the overall sales team, to give support and strategic development.
Responsibilities
- Service the sales department's customer project enquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure proposals are completed on time and on budget.
- Deal with a wide variety of stakeholders and adapt management and leadership styles accordingly.
- Receive and review requests for quotations from the sales department for the company’s products and services.
- Deal directly with the Sales Team regarding customer and service enquiries.
- Review and understand customer specifications, and determine an appropriate technical solution in collaboration with the engineering department.
- Decide upon suitable equipment to offer.
- Obtain costs of materials, consumables, sub‑contract work, etc., to prepare quotes.
- Prepare quotations in accordance with customer specified requirements, documentation and company policies.
- Assist in after‑sales service where necessary and maintain project management functions when required.
- Assist with sales order administration and conduct contract reviews where necessary.
- Work actively with the Sales Team to seek sales and marketing opportunities where possible.
- Represent the company and visit customers along with the Sales Team as and when required for bid clarification, etc.
- Carry out additional tasks as may become necessary from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the sales operation.
Ideal Candidate
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in proposals or sales engineering.
- Customer‑focused with a can‑do positive attitude.
- Preferably educated to a degree standard in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Background in proposals/sales engineering for marine or heavy‑lifting equipment.
- Excellent sales, negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent track record of preparing and presenting detailed proposals and selling engineering equipment to professionals up to board level in both small and global companies.
- Ability to help define and successfully execute a sales proposal strategy.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiar with AutoCAD, Inventor and Vault.
- Bright, conscientious, creative and a problem solver.
- Self‑motivated and a true team member, able to work and succeed independently.
- Strong drive to rapidly absorb and develop skills across a wide range of engineering disciplines with strict attention to detail.

Monday – Friday
Salary
£30,000 - £40,000 per annum
