We have an exciting opportunity to join one of the world’s leading producers of paper that has been developing its.

The position coincides with the development of a Food Grade Packaging Paper that is impervious to oxygen, aromas, oils and greases and aims to replace plastic material in food packaging. This is not only because of its inherent barrier properties, but also due to its recyclable, marine biodegradable and compostable characteristics. The company is therefore looking to appoint a Food Contact Material (FCM) compliance expert.

Job Role: Reporting to the Technical and Innovation Manager. In this role you will provide environmental expertise compliant with the ISO 14001 standard across all areas of the mill and communicate as required with respective external agencies. You will be expected to develop and enhance current systems and procedures ensuring all aspects of environmental management are achieved to the required standards. The role will also be to deliver continuous improvement in achievement of environmental standards with a focus on sustainability and providing analysis of the product life cycle.

A key part of your role will be to provide specialist knowledge and expertise to the Technical, Production and Supply Chain / Commercial teams in delivery of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in relation to our clients products to Food Industry required standards. You will be required to develop GMP procedures and standards from first principles, but experience in GMP systems is not a prerequisite requirement.

As the Food Contact Material (FCM) compliance expert, unless already experienced in FCM compliance, you will be required to rapidly develop your knowledge of worldwide FCM legislation to become the Mill & Group FCM Compliance Lead. You will also become a part of the Mill’s Audit team in relation to ISO standards.
