The Role A well-regarded local authority is seeking an experienced Locum Litigation Lawyer to join its Legal Services team. Working as part of a small and supportive legal team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality legal advice and representation across a broad range of contentious matters. This is an excellent opportunity to support a busy and collaborative team during a period of increased demand.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of complex and often contentious matters across all Council servicesManage a varied caseload including civil and commercial litigation, housing matters, and enforcement workPrepare and conduct cases before civil courts, criminal courts, and tribunals, including advocacy where appropriateHandle prosecutions in areas such as planning, environmental health, and licensingInstruct Counsel where necessary and oversee cases through to final hearings and appealsNegotiate settlements, including through alternative dispute resolution and arbitrationSupport the Legal Services Manager and wider Litigation Team on complex or high-profile casesAbout YouQualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive in England & WalesDemonstrable experience in litigation within a local authority or public sector environmentStrong working knowledge of civil litigation, housing law, and regulatory enforcementAdvocacy experience and confidence managing cases independentlyExcellent analytical, drafting, and communication skillsAbility to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentWhat's on OfferFull-time or part-time hours consideredRemote working with Court attendance as requiredCompetitive hourly rate, dependent on experienceApply Now If you feel you have the necessary skills and experience for the position of Litigation Locum, please apply now or contact Natalie Ferguson in our Manchester office for more information.Sellick Partnership is proud to be an inclusive and accessible recruitment business and we support applications from candidates of all backgrounds and circumstances.
