Salary: £40,777 - £50,269 (Band 8-10) plus market supplement of £2,080 pro rata

Location: Trafford Town Hall, Manchester, M32 0TH - hybrid working

Overview of the Litigation Lawyer role
\n\n
Sellick Partnership is excited to be partnering with Trafford Council who are currently looking for a Litigation Lawyer to join their busy Litigation Legal Team. Key responsibilities of the Litigation Lawyer will include
\n\n
\n\t- The Litigation Legal Team sits alongside a Corporate Legal Team and covers wide and vast areas of law, providing the postholder an opportunity to learn and develop new skills and expertise in the following areas:\n\t
\n\t\t- Criminal and Civil Litigation including advocacy
\n\t\t- Licensing law and public protection
\n\t\t- Employment law
\n\t\t- Enforcement of regulatory matters, including prosecutions (Environmental Health, Food Safety, Health and Safety and Work, Licensing, Planning and Trading Standards)
\n\t\t- Anti-social behaviour and community safety
\n\t\t- Local Authority Housing
\n\t\t- National Non-Domestic Rates litigation
\n\t\t- Inquests
\n\t\t- Debt recovery
\n\t\t- Commercial disputes
\n\t\t- GDPR, Data Protection and Freedom of Information
\n\t\t- Local Government law and procedures
\n\t

Required experience/qualifications of the Litigation Lawyer position will include
\n\n
\n\t- You will be a qualified solicitor, barrister, or Chartered Lawyer / Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives holding a current practising certificate
\n\t- You will demonstrate relevant experience and expertise in one or more of the areas listed above and will be capable of:\n\t
\n\t\t- Developing and advising on a wide range of high-level complex and sensitive work
\n\t\t- Representing Legal Services team at committee meetings and also representing the council's interests with external organisations
\n\t\t- Supporting the Principal Solicitors, Monitoring Officer and Deputy Monitoring Officer as required
\n\t\t- Possessing up-to-date knowledge in respect of national trends, policy, legislation, guidelines, initiatives and best practice in Legal and Local Government
\n\t\t- Ensuring that the service meets all its statutory requirements and responsibilities
\n\t\t- Communicating and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, building partnerships and productive working relationships to achieve shared objectives
\n\t
\n\t \n\t- You will need to have experience in drafting and will be skilled at drafting legal documentation
\n
