Position Overview
As a Legal Counsel based 5 days a week at our Shirebrook HQ, you will review, negotiate, draft and advise on a wide range of supplier and business partnership contracts for all areas of the Group’s businesses, including commercial, supply chain, concessions, events, marketing, ecommerce, franchising and licensing, IT & technology, outsourcing and finance.
Responsibilities
- Handle commercial disputes and litigation.
- Provide guidance on marketing and promotional activities, including CAP code compliance, and draft associated terms & conditions for promotions, prize draws and competitions.
- Support the e‑commerce team on legal aspects of digital marketing and website operations.
- Draft wholesale contracts and concession agreements with suppliers.
- Manage general IP work, including licensing of own brands and third‑party licensing.
- Advising and supporting the customer service team on complaints and handling disputes, including small claims.
- Assist on larger M&A work, coordinating smaller transactions, conducting due diligence, drafting SPA/APAs, ancillary documents, and providing post‑completion support.
- Liaise with enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies such as the ICO, ASA and Trading Standards on regulatory issues and customer complaints.
- Instruct and manage external lawyers on work that exceeds in‑house capacity or is specialist in nature.
- Support senior members of the legal team on various matters.
- Supervise junior members of the team.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in commercial contract negotiation.
- Qualified and able to hit the ground running with expertise in the sector.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment with ever‑changing priorities.
- Excellent communicator, able to build strong relationships at all levels of an organisation.
- Ability to provide commercially focused, pragmatic legal advice.
