Head of Events

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Events to lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of live events, with a strong emphasis on conventions. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, client satisfaction, and strategic development across multiple venues.

The Role

You will provide clear, credible leadership to Event Management and Event Support teams, fostering a high-performance, engaged culture. With full accountability for event planning and delivery, you will ensure a consistent, high-quality, and compliant approach across all activity.

A key part of the role is shaping and delivering an Event Management strategy that drives continuous improvement, innovation, and operational efficiency. You’ll work closely with commercial teams to support the sales process, enhance the client journey, and maximise revenue opportunities.

You will also take ownership of stakeholder relationships, both internal and external, representing the business at industry events and maintaining strong partnerships across the sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire multi-site event teams to deliver best-in‑class operational performance
• Oversee end‑to‑end event delivery, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance
• Drive client satisfaction, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the customer experience
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring delivery against financial targets
• Contribute to strategic planning, including resource allocation and operational efficiencies
• Build strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and industry stakeholders
• Support the sales function through active involvement in pitches and site visits
• Champion Health & Safety standards across all event delivery environments

Skills & Experience

• Significant senior‑level experience within live events, conferences, or venue operations
• Proven track record of leading and developing high‑performing event teams across multiple sites
• Strong operational background with deep understanding of venue‑based delivery
• Excellent client relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Commercially astute, with experience managing budgets and delivering financial targets
• Highly organised, with strong communication and planning capabilities
• Collaborative, proactive, and solutions‑focused approach
• Personal Licence holder
