Role Overview
We are recruiting a Raising Achievement Officer to work within the Virtual School Education service, ensuring that local authorities, schools, colleges and other stakeholders carry out statutory duties in respect of all children in care and young people who have left care. The role is essential in supporting these children and young people and enhancing education outcomes within a multi‑agency context.
Responsibilities
- Co‑ordinating and monitoring statutory education services for children in care and young people who have left care.
- Collaborating with professional colleagues and stakeholder partners to ensure compliance with statutory duties.
- Advocating for children in care and young people who have left care to secure best practice educational outcomes.
- Providing specialist support and making individualised education plans where required.
- Monitoring and reviewing outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Relevant experience in the care sector or education of children in care.
- Demonstrable understanding of statutory duties and educational policy affecting children in care.
- Excellent communication skills – able to converse fluently in English and provide accurate guidance to children, young people, families and colleagues.
- A proven record of enhancing service and education outcomes within a multi‑agency context.
- Successful completion of a medical assessment and any other statutory checks required.
