Based in Hampshire, this role is for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a fast‑growing, privately‑owned technology group that designs and manufactures high‑performance sensor and measurement systems used globally across meteorology, agriculture, transport, marine, utilities, motorsport, and defence sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, improve, and maintain manufacturing processes to ensure products are built efficiently, consistently, and to the highest quality standards.
- Act as a key link between Design/R&D and Production, ensuring new and existing products are optimised for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.
- Design, implement, and document manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
- Support production teams to maintain stable and efficient manufacturing operations.
- Work closely with R&D to ensure new product designs are suitable for manufacture.
- Lead the transition of new products into full production.
- Create and maintain assembly instructions, process documentation, and work standards.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
- Analyse production data and present findings to support operational decision‑making.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and manufacturing costs.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures.
- Lead cross‑functional projects involving engineering, production, and quality teams.
- Support training and knowledge transfer for new or updated processes.
- Stay up to date with industry developments and introduce relevant improvements.
Requirements
- Degree (or equivalent) in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Production, or Electronic Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a modern electronics / electromechanical manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem‑solving ability with a structured, analytical approach.
- Experience working with design teams to support manufacturable product development.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Strong commercial awareness (cost, efficiency, and production impact understanding).
- Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional teams when required.
- Electronics fault‑finding experience.
- Lean / Continuous Improvement experience (e.g., Green Belt Six Sigma).
- Knowledge of scripting or software tools (e.g., Python, AutoIt) and databases.
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills in a production environment.
