Senior Settlement Analyst

Purpose

Joulen are seeking a motivated and experienced professional looking to take on a new challenge to work in an exciting and rapidly growing industry. The role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the delivery of Joulen's long-term strategic goals.

Reporting to the Head of Trading Operations, the Senior Settlement Analyst will validate the revenue and gross margin activities of the trading team and support the finance team in booking the revenue in a timely manner ensuring our customers are paid on time and accurately.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience dealing with settlement processes, ideally with experience of Elexon given this is our fastest growing region. Previous experience in billing system projects would be desirable; providing input that will help drive improvements in our internal settlement and billing processes.

The role will be split between development of Joulens PARIS energy management platform settlement system, playing a crucial role in helping expand capability and managing the settlement process across the markets we operate in. Ensuring quick and accurate settlement so that our clients receive the information they require.

This role is hybrid and will be expected to be in the Belfast office a minimum of 3 days a week, with Tuesdays being the Company anchor day.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily wholesale settlement process
• Manage Capacity Market and ancillary service payments
• Create bookings and payment files to Finance
• Build and develop settlement processes with Finance, Product and Engineering as we scale the business
• Establish repeatable processes to enable scale, leveraging technology for new market entry
• Work across the trading team to help manage collateral position effectively
• Ability to investigate market nuance to communicate insights across Front and Middle office
• Any other duties as determined reasonable by the Head of Trading Operations

Essential criteria

• Degree level education in a finance/accounting related course.
• Highly numerate.
• 5+ years experience
• Strong experience with settlement processes.
• Strong experience with the manipulation of complex datasets,
  can make adjustments in database - SQL, Python
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proven process driven mindset, ability to build repeatable and scalable settlement functions. Systems thinker.
• Self-motivated, results focused and able to work on own initiative.
• Proactive with the ability to effectively use own initiative.
• Strong analytical, planning and organisational abilities
• Effective time management skills

Desirable criteria

• Experience within the energy sector, particularly GB.
• Experience in the roll out of new billing projects.
