Finance Director – Compensation Controller
Location: Glasgow, United Kingdom
We are seeking a Finance Director to join our Compensation Controller team, which is part of Global Corporate Controllers. This Director‑level role is responsible for the accuracy and control of the firm’s books and records, overseeing the development, management, and oversight of financial accounting & reporting systems, database management, capital and liquidity reporting, and external reporting functions.
Responsibilities
- Financial accounting across all GAAPS and legal entities.
- Collaborate with accounting policy on interpretation and implementation of new accounting rules and compensation arrangements.
- Act as an SME on firm and finance‑wide initiatives, assessing, planning, and delivering compensation & benefit related accounting and reporting impacts.
- Provide regulatory and statutory financial reporting at firm and subsidiary level, analysing and implementing new reporting requirements.
- Develop management reporting and forecasting for the CFO and other senior stakeholders.
- Support accounting and reporting tasks associated with employee compensation (the firm’s largest P&L line).
- Coordinate deliverables for auditors and internal controls testing teams.
- Enhance the compensation forecasting process and support continuous improvement through automation and process enhancement.
- Perform production, review, and line management responsibilities as required.
- Adhere to and improve process documentation and the control environment.
- Provide information and insights across global stakeholder groups and participate in firmwide or departmental projects.
- Represent the function in wider office committees and undertake ad‑hoc tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Professional Accountancy Qualification or equivalent specialization in Finance.
- Proven experience in finance processes, controls, and reporting.
- Ability to manage priorities and adapt to changing situations.
- Strong communication skills; clear, concise, and appropriate delivery.
- Experience establishing and meeting deadlines.
- Experience managing staff and/or reviewing the work of others.
- Risk awareness and good guardianship skills.
- Collaborative team player with a strong work ethic, effective in cross‑functional teams.
