Role Overview
Blue Cross is one of the UK’s leading animal welfare organisations for animals. We are a charity that supports sick, injured, and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes. The role offers an 18-month development programme for graduate vets, focused on providing high standard of care and diverse medical and surgical cases.
Responsibilities
- Run own consult list, seeing a wide variety of cases
- Manage a busy hospital caseload with training in inpatient care
- Receive tailored training in surgery and diagnostic procedures
- Receive adequate training in emergency work, before being introduced to out‑of‑hours rota
- Take an active role in monthly team development days, including service reduction to emergency‑only, cadaver training sessions, and external lectures
- Provide a much‑appreciated service to pet owners in need
About you
You will be a practical, pragmatic individual who enjoys working in a team and is committed to delivering excellent customer care for patients and their owners.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Graduated from veterinary school and MRCVS registered by September 2026
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrable teamwork and communication skills
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Relevant UK small animal practice experience
- Charity EMS experience
