An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Administrative Clerk to join our administrative team within the Gastroenterology Department based at the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

It is expected that all applicants will have previous experience of working in the NHS within a secretarial role and will possess extensive understanding and knowledge of medical terminology.

The successful candidate must be able to undertake all administrative duties including clinic management, be well-organised, plan own workload and work on own initiative while adhering to strict guidelines, both individually and as part of the wider team.

You will be expected to be a team player and cover for your colleagues during absences. Previous experience of general administrative duties is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive service to the Alcohol Care Team nurses and consultants with minimum supervision.
• Organise own workload and coordinate activities with other medical secretaries and administrative clerks to ensure an efficient service.
• Show initiative commensurate with the role and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Ensure cross cover working where possible.
• Communicate with all disciplines of staff and patients throughout the Trust and other bodies both internally and externally.
• Deal with all queries in a confidential and competent manner and perform general office duties.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 or equivalent in a relevant area.

Experience

• Previous NHS experience.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of NHS systems - iPM, ICE and Choose & Book.

Skills

• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Previous clerical experience.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
