One of La Fosse’s top clients are looking to build an AI Labs capability and are looking to appoint our first Principal AI / ML Engineer. This is a senior, hands‑on individual contributor role with broad influence across the entire AI function, combining deep technical delivery with strategic input.
You will act as the technical authority for AI and ML engineering, owning the design, build, and deployment of production‑grade AI systems. The role works closely with AI leadership and partners across engineering, product, and the wider business to ensure AI solutions are scalable, governed, and deliver measurable business impact.
The AI Labs function consists of around 30 people and is delivering applied AI initiatives across customer experience and travel‑related domains.
Role responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of end‑to‑end AI/ML pipelines from concept to production
- Build, deploy, and operationalise LLM‑based solutions including RAG architectures and agentic AI systems
- Design and implement AI agents using modern orchestration frameworks
- Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise platforms in a robust, model‑agnostic, and future‑proof way
- Clearly communicate AI solution design, risks, and outcomes to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Technical experience required
- Strong hands‑on experience delivering production‑grade AI/ML systems end to end
- Proven experience with LLMs, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), and agentic AI architectures
- Practical experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and AI evaluation approaches such as LLM‑as‑a‑Judge
- Strong programming skills in Python with disciplined engineering practices
- Experience with TypeScript in AI is a bonus
- Familiarity with modern AI tooling and LLM APIs
