Additional Salary Information

You will also be entitled to a retention payment of £4,000 per year based on 37 hrs per week or pro rata for hours worked. This retention payment will be split into two payments, in December and June. You become eligible for the payment after 6 months employment and successful completion of your probationary period. The payment will be reviewed in 6 months.

Responsibilities

The Investment Zone Planning Lead is responsible for producing Development Plan Documents or supporting Planning guidance associated with delivering the objectives of the Investment Zone and the Council’s Masterplan. This includes engagement with the Planning Policy Group, regeneration, and business and skills teams. The role works closely with Development Management to provide advice on applications and pre‑apps for schemes around Huddersfield. Cross‑service working with other strategy officers on policy issues such as economy, retail, housing, transport, active travel, green/blue infrastructure, and the environment is required to deliver overall Council objectives.

You will support day‑to‑day Planning Policy Group objectives, helping Team Leaders and the Group Leader deliver the emerging Local Plan with emphasis on developing a town‑centre framework and specific planning policy tasks such as master planning and design for the investment zone, station‑to‑stadium corridor and related town‑centre policies.

Your role includes leading projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and of high quality, while promoting a culture of performance management and continuous improvement.

Communication is vital; you will ensure effective communication to team members and stakeholders, aligning with the Council’s vision and values.
