An exciting opportunity for an exceptional leader to continue their nursing leadership journey. Medical Day Case Units at Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton are looking for a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to cover both sites.
Role Overview
Experience in leadership and management at band 6 level and above is essential. The purpose of the role is to take overall responsibility for the clinical care environment and the patient’s journey by providing professional nursing leadership and guidance, expert clinical advice and managerial skills. These skills will ensure delivery of a clinically effective service in line with local and national development plans, Trust policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse workforce to maintain high standards while meeting key performance indicators within policy, guidelines and budget constraints.
- Work with the two unit teams and wider medical and nursing teams within UHDB, including Gastroenterology, Haematology, Respiratory and Endocrinology, to provide a day case service to patients and enable them to manage long‑term conditions within an outpatient setting without increased inpatient stay.
- Lead and provide clinical care to patients in Day Case units at both sites.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures and support the delivery of national development plans.
Qualifications
- Band 6 level or above nursing leadership experience.
- Professional nursing leadership and managerial skills.
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a diverse workforce.
