You will act as a mentor to students and newly qualified staff, offering guidance, teaching and assessment within your scope of competence, while promoting evidence‑based practice. As part of your responsibilities, you will contribute to the effective management of the ward by monitoring stock levels, supporting budget awareness and taking appropriate action when shortfalls arise.

You will work in line with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of clinical practice.
You will support the Endoscopist throughout each procedure by ensuring the correct equipment is available and assisting with tasks such as taking biopsies, applying accurate labels and handling specimens safely. You will contribute to the assessment, development and implementation of patient care pathways, continuously evaluating the care provided and maintaining accurate, legible nursing records with full awareness of their legal importance.
As a Team Leader, you will offer guidance and support to your team, helping them progress toward becoming expert practitioners. You will assist in the supervision of new staff members—including nurses, HCAs and students—ensuring all team members deliver safe, high‑quality patient care. Effective communication is essential, and you will help maintain clear, consistent information‑sharing across all healthcare professionals to promote cohesive working and safe practice.
Acting as a patient advocate, you will ensure continuity of care for all individuals undergoing endoscopic procedures. Your responsibilities will include recording observations, caring for both sedated and non‑sedated patients, managing IV access, supporting recovery after procedures and ensuring safe discharge. You will also ensure that all staff follow relevant policies in the event of post‑endoscopic complications, maintaining patient safety at every stage.
