About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Fellow to join our Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department, which provides excellent care to all women across Mid and South Essex.
About Our Team
- The Directorate is the designated Gynaecological Cancer Centre for South Essex and also provides a wide variety of expertise in gynaecology.
- The Trust has developed plans to acquire a Surgical Robot for the Urology, Gynae-oncology and Colorectal services.
- Our Gynaecological Oncology services underwent a reconfiguration including the merger of the South Essex Cancer Network and the Mid Essex Network to form a unified Essex Cancer Network.
- The Fetal Medicine Service has undergone significant improvements over the last few years due to collaboration with the Harris Birthright Centre in King’s College Hospital in London.
Responsibilities
If successful you will:
- Show qualities of leadership while recognising your limitations and seeking help and advice appropriately.
- If you are an ST3 level doctor, gain the necessary competencies by rotating through the region to acquire relevant experience.
- If a trainee, start working independently.
- Liaise between midwives, nurses, other junior doctors, patients, relatives and senior medical staff.
- Attend to the day‑to‑day management of day‑case, out‑patient and in‑patient services.
- Attend and participate in ward rounds and operating theatre sessions as scheduled.
- Attend general and specialist out‑patient, diagnostic and pre‑assessment clinics.
- Teach medical students as directed.
- Supervise, monitor and assist F2 doctors & ST1‑2 in post‑take ward rounds as part of the rostered emergency work.
- Keep up‑to‑date with all administrative duties including letters, results and discharge summaries as required.
- Study for higher examinations and maintain continued professional development.
- Undertake and assist in audit projects at various times throughout the rotations.
- Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary sessions.
- Cooperate with members of the HR department when monitoring hours of work.
- Attend induction in each hospital or new department.
- Attend post‑mortem demonstrations when required.
- Comply with all local policies, including dress code, annual and study leave.
