CAMHS Crisis and Intensive Home Treatment Mental Health Practitioner

Main duties of the job
- Work as part of an MDT to assess, formulate and support young people and their families in crisis situations, both in the community and acute hospitals.
- Offer targeted follow‑up interventions across therapeutic modalities.
- Manage mental health risk and collaborate with the wider network to ensure safety and wellbeing.
- Provide clinical assessment and evidence‑based interventions in line with current best practice, legislation and guidance.
- Carry out risk management, formulate care plans and maintain contemporaneous case records in accordance with Trust policy.
- Support and supervise junior colleagues, and receive regular clinical and managerial supervision.
- Participate in multi‑agency meetings, discharge coordination, and the delivery of training to professionals, carer and youth groups.
- Plan and manage smooth transitions where clinically indicated, and liaise with other teams across Nottinghamshire and surrounding CAMHS services.
- Maintain suitability of risk management and care plans for all clinical cases and ensure adherence to safeguarding policies and national legislation.
Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., RMN, RNLD, Allied Health Professional with appropriate accreditation).
- Registration with the relevant professional body and evidence of post‑registration learning and development.
- Additional post‑graduate training relevant to CAMHS.
Knowledge
- Understanding of theories and factors contributing to the development of children and young persons’ mental health difficulties.
- Knowledge of current policies, strategies and key indicators for the future and development of child mental health services.
- Ability to use electronic data recording systems and to maintain accurate case records.

Experience
- Post‑registration experience in CAMHS, acute mental health, crisis team or liaison psychiatry settings.
- Experience of multidisciplinary and multi‑agency working.
- Competency in completing comprehensive mental health assessments and risk assessments.
- Development of robust care plans, risk management plans and safety plans.
- Understanding of responsibilities under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, CPA and safeguarding.
- Evidence of using Routine Outcome Measures (ROMS) in a clinical setting.
- Experience of crisis management and coordinating day‑to‑day clinical activity.
- Experience of delegating clinical tasks and managing team diary.
- Experience of delivering training to professional groups or facilitating parent/carer/youth groups.
Training
- Qualification in Student Practice Placement Assessor or Supervisor, or willingness to complete it.
- Experience of supporting, mentoring and supervising students on placement.
Contractual Requirements
- A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is preferred for this post.

£38,682 to £46,580 a year (pro rata for part time).
