A Vacancy at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust. This role supports the delivery of high‑quality care to patients and contributes to the further development of the Gastroenterology service. The position offers an opportunity to develop clinical knowledge and skills in Gastroenterology as preparation for working as a consultant.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide specialist care for Gastroenterology/Hepatology patients, including in‑patients, in‑reach/review of referrals, and day unit treatments.
- Maintain the highest standards in the care of patients with Gastroenterology conditions.
- Provide rapid assessment of acute medical patients.
- Maintain effective communication and handover to the on‑call team.
- Participate in the on‑call rota on an equal basis with colleagues to ensure appropriate emergency services are provided out‑of‑normal working hours.
- Ensure ALS qualification is up to date and ability to lead a cardiac arrest.
- Perform emergency procedures, such as lumbar puncture, ascitic drain and chest drains – training can be provided.
Organisational Responsibilities
- Support the effective development of the service.
- Have responsibility for ensuring active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Actively participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
- Carry out responsibilities with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
- Ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.
- Carry out annual performance reviews with each member of staff.
- Attend all relevant management training in health and safety, risk assessment, etc.
