A primary school in Denton Burn, Newcastle, is looking for a caring and confident SEND Teaching Assistant to join their inclusive and forward-thinking team.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support for children with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language delays.
- Supporting children’s emotional regulation and social development, using calm, consistent strategies.
- Working alongside class teachers and the SENCo to adapt lessons and create accessible learning activities.
- Encouraging independence and resilience through structured routines and positive reinforcement.
- Helping pupils engage fully in classroom life, from morning phonics to creative play and outdoor learning.
- Liaising with parents and carers to celebrate achievements and share progress.
- Taking part in training and reflection sessions, with access to free accredited online courses through the Protocol Education CPD Academy.
Who You Are
- A kind, patient, and reliable person who enjoys working with children.
- Ideally a recent graduate in Psychology, or a related subject, looking to gain hands-on experience in schools.
- A good communicator who can build trust with children and adults alike.
- Calm under pressure, flexible in approach, and always ready to listen and learn.
- You may already have experience supporting children with SEND, or you’re eager to develop those skills with guidance and training.
- (Bonus!) You’re Thrive-trained or keen to take our free online Thrive course to strengthen your understanding of emotional wellbeing in education.
