Primary School Bursar
Location: South RibbleStart Date: 1st JuneContract: Long-term temporary (with the potential to become permanent)Salary: Grade 7 – £18.62 per hourHours: Full-time, 8:30am–4:00pm (flexibility available)
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Primary School Bursar to join a welcoming primary school in the South Ribble area from 1st June. This is a full-time role offered initially on a long-term temporary basis, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
Working closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team, you will play a vital role in the smooth and efficient running of the school’s financial and administrative operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the school’s financial systems, including budgets, forecasting, and monitoring expenditure
- Processing payroll information, invoices, and purchase orders
- Overseeing income, banking, and financial reporting
- Managing contracts, facilities, and health & safety compliance
- Supporting HR and staffing administration where required
- Acting as a key liaison with external providers and local authority services
About You
- Previous experience working as a school bursar or in a similar financial/administrative role (school-based experience preferred)
- Strong financial management and organisational skills
- Confident using financial management systems and Microsoft xwzovoh Office
- Able to work independently while supporting the wider school team
- Professional, reliable, and approachable
