Science Technician – Secondary School

Location: Shirley, CroydonHours:

• 8:00am – 2:00pm (no break)OR
• Finish at 2:30pm with a breakDays: Monday to FridayContract: Temporary – Immediate start until end of June

We are seeking a Science Technician to support the Science Department at a secondary school in Shirley, Croydon. This is a full-time, temporary role starting immediately and running until the end of June.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for science lessons (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
• Supporting teaching staff during practical lessons when required
• Ensuring laboratories are clean, tidy and safe
• Managing and maintaining stock of equipment and chemicals
• Following health & safety procedures and COSHH regulations
• Safely disposing of waste materials

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a laboratory environment (preferred)
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of health & safety procedures in a school or lab setting
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
