We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant further education college in York. This is a full-time position (Monday to Friday) designed for someone who is committed to fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere where every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Role Details
- Location: York
- Hours: Monday - Friday (Term Time Only)
- Pay Rate: £98 - £140 per day (dependent on experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 or small group support to students with a variety of SEND requirements (e.g., Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or physical disabilities).
- Assisting subject tutors in adapting lesson materials to meet individual learning plans.
- Helping students develop social skills, independence, and confidence within a college setting.
- Monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to the SEND Coordinator.
- Ensuring a safe and inclusive environment by managing classroom behaviour effectively.
Skills & Experience Required
- A genuine desire to support young people facing barriers to learning.
- The ability to pivot your approach based on a student's immediate needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Previous experience working with SEND (in an educational or care setting) is highly advantageous.
Essential Requirements
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Confirmed eligibility to work in the UK.
- Two professional references covering the last 24 months.
