Payroll Officer

MCS Group are delighted to be supporting a local government organisation in their search for a Payroll Officer to support end-to-end payroll operations and ensure the timely and accurate processing of employee payments and statutory obligations.

The role:

• Managed end-to-end payroll processing and ensured timely, accurate payments.
• Processed payroll changes, deductions, pensions and statutory payments.
• Maintained accurate payroll and employee records in line with regulations.
• Investigated and resolved payroll discrepancies, queries and urgent payments.
• Prepared payroll reports, statutory returns and financial ledger transfers.
• Supported payroll systems, procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensured confidentiality, compliance and operational support during management absence.

The Person:

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

• Qualified in business studies or equivalent, with relevant payroll administration experience.
• Experienced in processing payroll within a computerised payroll environment.
• Strong knowledge of taxation, national insurance and pension administration.
