Overview
Mid and South Essex NHS Trust is offering an outstanding opportunity for a highly specialised Echo Physiologist to join our dynamic and progressive department on an extended 24 month fixed term contract. The successful recruit will be supporting diagnostic echocardiography in the cutting edge Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) based at Grays, Essex using brand new GE scanners. This post may be attractive for an experienced candidate looking to develop their echo portfolio or BSE logbook. Initially candidates will be offered the opportunity to get acclimatised with the service by scanning within the Heart and Chest Service at Southend Hospital before transitioning to the CDC at Grays.
Responsibilities
- Carry out and report at a specialised level a range of cardiac diagnostic tests, ensuring scan and reporting to a BSE standard adult echocardiograms in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Perform both inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms with precision and care.
- Assist in advanced procedures including trans‑oesophageal, stress and contrast studies.
- Work in specialist clinics focusing on valvular pathology, cardio‑oncology, heart failure and paediatrics.
- Assist in the training of the Clinical Physiologists and Student Physiologists within the department.
- Support the lead physiologist in the organisation of the day‑to‑day work within the Heart and Chest Clinic.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Heart and Chest Department.
- Contribute to the reduction of healthcare‑acquired infection by ensuring a high standard of infection control practice in line with current research and legislation.
- Manage excellent time management and seek support when required.
- Take on any other duties requested by the Principal Clinical Physiologist.
Qualifications
- Physiologist who has completed their BSE exam and is working towards full BSE accreditation.
- Physiologist who has recently completed an ETP programme and is keen to develop their skills within a close‑knit team.
