An established international law firm is seeking a Finance Business Partner to join a high‑performing commercial finance team at a time of significant transformation and investment.
This is a genuinely strategic role, working closely with senior leaders to drive financial performance, support decision‑making, and embed strong commercial discipline across the business. The organisation is undertaking major change within its finance function, including new systems, improved insight, and a stronger partnering model‑making this an excellent time to join and make a visible impact.
This role would suit a qualified accountant from a practice or audit background who is keen to move into a commercial, stakeholder‑facing position and use their technical foundation in a more advisory and value‑adding capacity. It is of course going to also suit those coming from a Finance Business Partner background. They are considering individuals in both London and Sheffield.
Key Responsibilities as the Finance Business Partner -
Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary financial contact for senior leaders within your business area
- Build strong, credible relationships and develop trusted‑advisor status
- Present financial performance, risks, and opportunities clearly at leadership forums
- Proactively identify initiatives to improve profitability, efficiency, and cash management
- Support commercial decision‑making around pricing, investment cases, and growth initiatives
- Work closely with other finance teams (e.g. reporting, credit, pricing) to ensure joined‑up support
- Lead and support annual budgeting and strategic planning processes
- Manage reforecasting and rolling outlooks, highlighting risks and opportunities
- Contribute to wider business and leadership reporting, including executive‑level packs
- Support long‑term planning and strategic reviews
Analysis & Insight
- Produce insightful financial analysis and commentary
- Interpret monthly management information and turn it into actionable insight
- Track performance against agreed targets and support corrective action
- Build financial models to support ad‑hoc initiatives such as growth plans or investment decisions
People & Development
- Provide guidance and informal mentoring to junior finance colleagues
- Contribute to improving financial understanding across the wider business through training and coaching
Skills & Experience for this Finance Business Partner role
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present to senior audiences
- Strong analytical capability and attention to detail, balanced with commercial judgement
- Ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non‑finance stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in a complex, fast‑paced, and changing environment
- Previous experience in a finance business partnering or commercial finance role
- Background in audit, assurance, or practice strongly welcomed, with the ability and motivation to move into a commercial, business‑facing role
- Exposure to professional services, partnership environments, or similarly complex organisations
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
- Advanced Excel and solid PowerPoint skills
