Overview
West Berkshire Council is seeking a Principal Engineer ITS & Sustainable Travel to join our Transport Services Team within the Environment Directorate. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of sustainable transport solutions and make a real difference in the West Berkshire community.
The Role
- As the Principal Engineer ITS & Sustainable Travel, you will be responsible for designing and delivering innovative engineering solutions to support the implementation of sustainable travel initiatives.
- Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to identify and secure funding opportunities for transport improvement schemes.
- Conducting feasibility studies, site surveys, and traffic assessments to inform engineering designs.
- Managing the successful delivery of transport projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Providing expert technical advice and guidance on sustainable transport issues.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes
- A qualified engineer with a relevant professional qualification.
- Extensive experience in the design and delivery of transport engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of sustainable transport principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Effective project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
