Position
The College of Health Professions at Towson University invites applications for two (2) non‑tenure‑track, 12‑month positions at the Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor rank in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies beginning Spring 2026.
Qualifications
- A minimum of an accredited Physician Assistant Studies master’s degree (or equivalent) with NCCPA certification and eligibility for licensure in Maryland at the time of appointment.
- A minimum of three years of clinical or professional experience.
- Ability and willingness to teach a range of Physician Assistant related didactic and clinical courses.
- Excellent professional, written, oral, and conceptual skills.
- Commitment to collaborating with faculty, students, and staff to foster a supportive learning environment.
- For Clinical Associate Professor: a minimum of 3 years of full‑time higher education experience, 3 years of teaching experience, record of service, and scholarly works.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include delivering high‑quality instruction in various Physician Assistant courses, mentoring and advising students, and teaching 80% of the workload across semesters. Faculty are encouraged to engage in traditional scholarship (publishing, presentations, collaborative projects) and participate in service activities at the department, college, university, profession, and community levels.
Essential Program Faculty Functions
- Participate in curricular design, implementation, and review of mission, program goals, and effectiveness of changes.
- Select applicants for admission to the PA program.
- Participate in ongoing program evaluation.
- Provide learning experiences through teaching and supervision for students in didactic and clinical phases.
- Evaluate student performance relative to course and program objectives.
- Review program compliance with ARC‑PA standards, policies, and procedures.
- Advise, counsel, and mentor PA students.
- Ensure availability of remedial instruction.
- Participate in service activities, including committee work and community outreach.
- Maintain high level of clinical and professional excellence.
Additional Leadership Opportunities
- Director of Clinical Education – develop and manage supervised clinical practice experiences for clinical‑year students with existing partners and new placements.
- Director of Student Success – responsible for early identification of at‑risk students and development of remediation activities.
- Director of Accreditation & Assessment – manage annual program evaluation and assessment plan to meet ARC‑PA Standards.
- Associate Program Director – support Program Director in administration, accreditation compliance, curriculum oversight, faculty coordination, and student progression.
Targeted Salary Range
Clinical Assistant Professor: $120,000–$130,000. Clinical Associate Professor: $135,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience and responsibilities.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate, and the results may impact employment.
