Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Rotating Equipment Workshop Engineer specializing in pumps for clean and wastewater applications. The role involves inspection, maintenance, repair, testing, and performance optimization of a wide range of pumping equipment used in municipal and industrial water systems. The successful candidate will ensure equipment reliability, efficiency, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and overhaul centrifugal, submersible, and positive displacement pumps.
- Conduct detailed inspections, fault finding, and root cause analysis on pump failures.
- Perform precision alignment, balancing, and assembly of rotating equipment.
- Test pumps and associated components to verify performance against specifications.
- Interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and manufacturer manuals.
- Maintain workshop records, service reports, and maintenance logs.
- Support site teams with installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities when required.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
- Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers for parts, technical support, and upgrades.
- Strong knowledge of pump types, hydraulic principles, and rotating equipment.
- Experience with seals, bearings, shafts, and impellers.
- Proficiency in mechanical fitting, machining tolerances, and assembly techniques.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools such as vibration analysis and condition monitoring equipment.
- Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (preferred).
- Proven experience in pump maintenance and repair within water or wastewater environments.
- Apprenticeship or relevant hands‑on engineering training.
- Familiarity with industry standards and safety practices.
- Experience with wastewater treatment plant equipment.
- Knowledge of condition‑based maintenance strategies.
- Certification in mechanical fitting or rotating equipment maintenance.
- Experience with OEM pump brands and refurbishment processes.
Working Conditions

- May involve lifting, manual handling, and working with heavy machinery.
