Cleaning Operations Team Leader – Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

Job Summary
Reporting to the Deputy Cleaning Operations Manager, the Cleaning Operations Team Leader will support the day‑to‑day management of the c129 WTE Healthcare Cleaning staff, ensuring the Trust’s Cleaning and Infection Control policies are upheld in a clean, safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Service hours cover 06:00 – 20:00, 7 days a week on a rota basis.
Main Duties
- Be visible on the shop floor; support Cleaning Operations staff.
- Carry out visual inspections of cleaning standards and ensure cleaning tasks and sign‑off sheets are completed to the required standards.
- Under the direction of the Deputy Cleaning Manager, support delivery of the highest standard of cleaning services to patients, staff and visitors.
- Play a key role in implementing the new cleaning operations service model, ensuring high‑quality cleaning services meet NHS National Standards of Cleanliness and the Trust’s Cleaning and Infection Control policies.

Qualifications
Essential
- Basic education to GCSE level including English and Maths.
Desirable
- British Institute of Cleaning Science accreditation or willingness to attain the required qualification.
- IOSHH.
- NVQ3 Supervisory Management / ILM3 or equivalent.
Knowledge
Essential
- Experience of working to deadlines and multi‑tasking.
- Experience in a cleaning service environment.
- Experience supervising and motivating teams.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety.
- Knowledge of office systems and procedures.
Desirable
- Ability to describe COSHH requirements in the workplace.
- Experience supervising large teams of cleaning staff in an NHS setting.
