Job Overview
Principal Transport Planner – Leicester or Nottingham offices. This role is within an experienced Transport Planning and Engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare transport statements, transport assessments, and travel plans to accompany planning applications for private sector clients.
- Provide advice on highway and transport related planning issues, including access strategies and feasibility studies, based on current policy and guidance.
- Prepare preliminary horizontal designs for site access junctions and highway improvements for highway authority approval.
- Ensure work is delivered to a high technical standard within agreed timescales, working both independently and supporting and mentoring other team members.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, design teams (including internal and external multidisciplinary professionals) and highway authorities.
- Manage multiple projects as the lead client contact.
Experience
Experience in Transport Planning is essential, as is experience in using relevant software such as TRICS and Junctions. Experience with LinSig, GIS, AutoCAD, AutoTrack, PDS Sign/Line and other related software would also be an advantage. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, including client liaison and financial elements of project management.
Education
Applicants should have a degree, and ideally a post‑graduate qualification, in a relevant subject such as Transport, Civil Engineering, Geography, or Planning.
