Assistant Audiologist

Responsibilities
- Contact with patients for hearing aid repairs and ear mould impressions.
- Maintain close contact with patients during examinations, taking impressions, and inserting hearing aids.
- Organise own workload within a very busy department while ensuring the smooth running of all administration procedures, including processing ear moulds, ordering, and stock management.
- Liaise with internal and external bodies (e.g., GPs, consultants, and heads of department).
- Act as first line of contact for patients attending the department, including those with disabilities.
- Input patient details into Auditbase systems.
- Assist with hearing aid stock control and basic hearing aid repairs.
- Demonstrate effective patient communication skills, particularly with the hard‑of‑hearing population.
- Take ear impressions following BSA‑recommended procedures in adults and children over 12 years.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject or equivalent level of relevant experience.
Knowledge
- Background awareness of healthcare and clerical procedures.
- Knowledge of Patient Care System.
Skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organisational skills.
- Motivated and enthusiastic with good IT skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively using electronic patient management systems.
Experience
- Previous experience working with and communicating to hard‑of‑hearing or deaf patients.
