Locum Consultant Anaesthetist | North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust

Overview

We are delighted to offer this vacancy to join a team of 32 Consultants working across two sites at the University Hospital of North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust is beginning, with other local providers, to take forward the integrated care programme. It develops services based on population needs, and this post will be pivotal in delivering a seamless service. The Anaesthetics Directorate sits within the Collaborative Care Group, which incorporates Trauma & Orthopaedics, Elective Care, Breast services, Critical Care, Peri‑Operative services & Pain Management Services.

The Trust provides acute and community services to Stockton‑on‑Tees, Hartlepool, East Durham and surrounding areas. With a budget of £310 million and 5,500 employees, both sites have formal NHS accreditation: Cancer Unit status and Trauma unit status at the University Hospital of North Tees.

The post will be offered for 10 PA’s under the Terms & Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) and seeks a consultant fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice and on the Specialist Register.

Responsibilities

• Cross‑site working between the University Hospital of North Tees and the University Hospital of Hartlepool.
• On‑call duties based at the University Hospital of North Tees.
• Attend five fixed clinical sessions each week, supplemented by pre‑ and post‑operative visits.
• Provide emergency duty, administration, teaching, non‑resident on‑call (anaesthesia and critical care) and participate in the weekend trauma list.
• Engage in the Clinical Directorate development programme, including management training and pathways to leadership.
