About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts Security Team. The role will be based at the Aintree, Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen sites. You will be responsible for providing a professional and effective Traffic Officer service that meets the needs of the Trust.
Responsibilities
- Maintain good order and prevent public disorder on all Trust sites.
- Protect patients, staff, contractors and visitors against acts of violence, aggression and abuse.
- Protect Trust property and personal property of staff, patients, visitors and contractors from loss, theft and damage.
- Maintain Traffic routes throughout the Trust site.
- Provide emergency response to incidents on all Trust premises.
- De‑escalate incidents of disorder and respond to major incidents in line with the Major Incident Policy.
- Record accurate written reports of security incidents, complete electronic incident forms, police witness statements and duty logs.
- Maintain pocket notebooks to an evidential standard for future investigations.
- Liaise with the Police and provide statements, preserve and correlate evidence as required.
- Assist with secure movement of cash from vending machines, catering outlets, fundraising and the General Office.
- Patrol Trust sites as directed by the Security Operations Manager or duty supervisor.
- Respond promptly to security system alarms (intruder, personal attack, access control) and take necessary action.
- Instigate Police response to suspicious incidents on Trust sites.
- Escort lone workers or vulnerable staff where an identified risk exists and support lone workers in line with the Trust's Lone Worker Policy.
- Maintain records of lost and found property incidents and take action as directed.
- Operate a secure key register and monitor the fire alarm system, investigate fire alarms and direct the fire brigade on call out.
- Maintain clear routes for emergency services.
- Complete mandatory training and any other training relevant to the post.
- Undertake any other duties relating to security as requested by the Security Operations Manager or duty supervisor.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Trust Security, Violence & Aggression and Lone Worker Control Room policies.
- Answer emergency telephone calls courteously and professionally.
- Delegate and prioritise tasks to patrol officers.
- Monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) for all Trust sites.
- Report identified faults in security systems to Estates Department and provide guidance to facilitate police investigations.
- Maintain CCTV logs in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
- Carry out regular patrols of the Trust car parks, reporting unauthorised parking and assisting vehicle owners as required.
- Assist with regulating the movement of traffic and control parking on Trust property.
Qualifications & Experience
- Mandatory: SIA Frontline Manned Guarding licence.
- Mandatory: Licence or NVQ Level 2 Security.
- Desirable: SIA Public Space Surveillance licence.
- Desirable: Proven experience in the security industry.
- Desirable: Experience in restraint techniques.
- Desirable: Understanding of the Mental Health Act 2007.
- Desirable: Competent use of CCTV equipment and understanding of the Data Protection Act 1998.
- Desirable: Competent use of two‑way radio procedure.
- Desirable: Ability to use Microsoft Office Word and Outlook applications.
- Desirable: Good verbal communication skills.
- Desirable: Level of personal fitness enabling prolonged foot patrols and standing.
- Desirable: Ability to prioritise incidents based on dynamic risk.
- Desirable: Ability to produce evidential written reports, both handwritten and electronic.
- Desirable: Flexible approach to working.
- Desirable: Ability to work shifts over a 24/7 period.
- Desirable: Ability to maintain an accurate pocket notebook.
- Desirable: Good written communication skills.
