Senior Mechanical Systems Lead (New Product Development)
The Opportunity A leading specialist in high–performance thermal engineering is looking for a senior–level Mechanical Design Engineer to act as a Technical Subsystem Owner. This role sits within a sophisticated R&D environment, focusing on the end–to–end development of complex electromechanical hardware. You will bridge the gap between initial concept and full–scale production within a highly regulated framework.
Core Responsibilities
- System Architecture: Lead the mechanical design and technical ownership of advanced thermal–controlled subsystems.
- Full Lifecycle Design: Manage projects from early–stage prototyping through to manufacturing hand–off and field support.
- Technical Integrity: Oversight of detailed CAD modeling, technical documentation, and compliance with rigorous industry standards.
- Cross–Functional Collaboration: Work within an Agile framework to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring design–for–manufacturing (DFM) and quality controls (FMEA) are met.
- Continuous Innovation: Drive the research of emerging technologies to enhance product performance and reliability.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive Industry Tenure: Significant experience (approx. two decades) in mechanical product design and new product development (NPD).
- Electromechanical Expertise: Proven track record with high–performance systems involving complex moving parts or specialized environmental controls.
- Software Proficiency: Expert–level capability in industry–standard 3D modeling software.
- Process Driven: Familiarity with structured development environments, including ISO–regulated design controls and risk management.
- Leadership Mentality: Experience taking full accountability for subsystems and mentoring junior engineers within a sprint–based delivery model.
Education & Qualifications
- Professional degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Professional certifications in process improvement or project management methodologies are highly regarded.
