Were looking for an enthusiastic and committed Animation Lecturer to join our team and deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across our Higher Education courses at University Centre Leeds. You will be part of the wider Creative Arts team and will be responsible for planning and delivering animation sessions that help students develop both their technical ability and creative style, while encouraging them to reach their full potential.
The role includes assessing student work, giving constructive feedback, and closely monitoring progress to support achievement and progression. Youll create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that responds to a range of student needs, helping learners build confidence as well as practical skills.
Youll also contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum, working collaboratively with colleagues and maintaining links with industry to ensure content stays current and relevant. Alongside teaching, youll support students with guidance around their next steps, preparing them for further study or careers in the creative industries.
What You Will Do- Responsible for recording and monitoring student progress, setting targets, and implementing timely interventions to support achievement. You will motivate and inspire students to reach their goals, developing their skills and confidence to enable progression.
- Plan, prepare and deliver schemes of work, session plans, and a range of engaging teaching, learning and assessment resources using a variety of teaching approaches to meet diverse learner needs. You will assess student work, provide clear and constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of progress across your modules.
- Develop and apply effective assessment strategies, take part in internal verification and moderation processes, and contribute to maintaining high quality standards. You will use evidence-based approaches to promote high levels of retention, achievement, attendance and overall student success.
- Reflect on and continuously improve your teaching practice, maintain current subject knowledge, and contribute to the review and development of courses to ensure they remain current, relevant, and aligned with industry expectations.
About You- Be a passionate and student focused educator and/or have a strong background in the animation industry and a commitment to delivering high quality teaching.
- Have the ability to engage and motivate learners, using a range of teaching and assessment methods to support different learning styles and help students reach their full potential.
- An effective communicator with strong organisational skills, able to manage your time, plan lessons, and track student progress confidently.
- Reflective approach to your practice is important to adapt and continuously improve your teaching and also to continue to develop your own professional practice and utilise links with industry to enhance the curriculum content.
- Holds a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE) or willingness to achieve this qualification within 2 years
- Hold a relevant vocational qualification or degree in subject area
