Transport Planning Manager

Salary Range £50k- £55k dependent on experience

Due to continued growth, we have created an exciting new opportunity for a Transport Planning Manager to join and strengthen our senior management team.
Role Overview
Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the Customer Services Manager and Fleet Manager, the Transport Planning Manager will lead our transport planning operations across multiple sites.
Based at our Dromore office you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the transport planning teams, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction while maximising vehicle utilisation, efficiency and service performance.
This is a senior, hands-on role offering the opportunity to drive operational excellence and contribute directly to the strategic development of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Overall responsibility for all transport planning functions
- Lead and manage planning teams across four traffic areas and two locations
- Drive a positive, high-performance culture within the planning teams
Planning & Operations
- Monitor vehicle utilisation and prepare revenue reports
- Ensure shipping routes are planned efficiently to maximise utilisation and reduce costs
- Monitor live vehicle movements to minimise delays and inefficiencies
- Ensure accurate and real-time use of the Traffic Management System (TMS)
- Ensure all job data is completed correctly to support KPI reporting
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Customer Services to manage customer queries and service updates
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers
- Ensure effective communication with sales and warehousing teams regarding delivery schedules
- Support Commercial and Fleet teams with capacity planning and forecasting
Performance & Compliance
- Ensure all driver briefs and de-briefs are completed daily, including POD status
- Keep the Fleet Manager informed of RTAs and vehicle maintenance issues
- Participate in weekly and monthly management meetings and provide performance reports
- Drive change initiatives and process improvements across the logistics operation
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 5 years experience in road haulage or transport planning, including team management
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on approach
- Commercially astute with a customer-focused mindset
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, pressurised environment
- Strong geographic knowledge of Ireland and the UK
- Ability to analyse data and make informed operational decisions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using Transport Management Systems
- Full UK driving licence
