Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home (Therapeutic / Trauma-Informed)

Salary: £59,802

We are seeking an experienced and resilient Registered Manager to oversee two specialist children’s homes in Carlisle within a highly therapeutic, trauma-informed residential service.
This is a unique opportunity to work within a specialist model supporting extremely vulnerable young people who have experienced significant trauma, including child sexual exploitation and abuse. Each home supports one young person only, ensuring a highly focused, safe, and structured environment tailored to individual needs.
About the Role
- Responsible for the leadership and management of 2 solo-placement children’s homes in Carlisle
- Work within an Ofsted-regulated framework
- Ensure high-quality care, safeguarding, and therapeutic outcomes
- Lead a core team of 12–13 staff, including:
- Deputy Manager
- Senior staff and support workers
- Waking night staff (due to high-risk and crisis support needs)
- Work collaboratively with:
- Social Workers
- Therapists
- Education specialists
- Outdoor activity teams
Young people typically stay between 17–30 weeks, receiving intensive therapeutic support with the aim of reintegration into family settings or transition into foster care where appropriate.
About the Service
- Solo occupancy homes due to the complexity and severity of trauma
- High emphasis on de-escalation, relationship-building, and therapeutic care
- Young people may present with challenging behaviours, including physical aggression
- Strong multidisciplinary approach with dedicated therapy and education input
- Focus on achieving the best possible long-term outcomes, including safe return home where viable
About You
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Minimum 12 months’ experience as a Registered Manager in children’s residential care
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and safeguarding
- Resilient, compassionate, and able to lead in high-pressure environments
- Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
