Job Description

Type: Permanent / Contract
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering team to identify feasibility of the approach
- Develop an outline requirement specification
- Identify TRL levels and associated development plans to deliver a viable solution
- Prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraisal and selection phase of the project, delivering to agreed time, cost and quality
- Lead the multidisciplinary teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and the production of agreed design deliverables
- Manage the DSA teams in production of deliverables
- Develop the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, and production of substantiation documentation
- Identify additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule
- Interface with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s)
- Interface and engage with Site clients and stakeholders
Essential Experience
- Background in engineering, demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent leadership roles guiding technical personnel
- Significant experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical knowledge
- Recent experience working within a regulated and quality-assured system (preferably nuclear), where professional engineering judgment is key
- Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations, and standards for the nuclear industry (equivalent experience in other industries will be considered):
- Health & Safety at Work Act
- The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
- Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation
Qualifications
- Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or Equivalent) subject
- Appropriate (Engineering or Scientific) Institution Membership
Additional Information
- Ability to obtain SC Clearance
- Applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
