How you'll make a differenceAs a Family Support Worker, you will be part of our Families Plus team, working with families who have children aged 5-18 to support meaningful and lasting change. You will be confident in engaging families quickly, building purposeful and professional relationships, and working collaboratively to agree realistic goals and outcomes.
Our approach is strengths-based, supporting families to recognise and build on their existing abilities as they navigate challenging experiences. Your work helps families to sustain and apply what they have learned long after Families Plus involvement has ended.
What you will be doing- You will be responsible for undertaking whole-family assessments and providing advice and guidance to families as required.
- Through regular monitoring and review of Early Help Plans, you will identify and update needs appropriately, ensuring all actions align with safeguarding procedures.
- Managing your own caseload, you will coordinate specialist support where necessary to achieve positive and effective outcomes for families. Accurate and timely records and reports must be completed in accordance with professional standards and council guidelines.
- A key aspect of the role is working collaboratively with professionals across a range of sectors, including early years settings, health, social care and the voluntary sector. You will ensure effective communication, enabling the sharing of knowledge and best practice to support improved outcomes.
What we need from you- We require you to hold an NVQ 3 or equivalent in a relevant discipline or be working towards an appropriate qualification related to the provision of services to children and young people.
- It is essential that you have considerable relevant experience in the use of evidence-based practice when working with vulnerable and disadvantaged children, families or young people.
- You will have demonstrable experience of writing holistic, multi-agency assessments and plans with families.
- You must have knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, processes and procedures.
- Given the nature of the role, you need to have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and engage successfully with colleagues, service users and partner organisations.
What you need to knowThis role sits within an area currently undergoing a period of change due to the government-led social care reform. - This role is for 18.5 hours per week and your working hours will be Wednesday 09:00am -12:30pm, Thursday and Friday 08:30am - 4:30pm.
- You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel.
- Business Insurance will need to be added to your current insurance policy.
- Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
