About the Role
Working in collaboration with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Service Desk and Delivery teams, the Infrastructure Engineer will design, build, support and enhance secure infrastructure and cloud environments across customer and internal platforms.
- Install, configure and administer Linux-based infrastructure (Ubuntu/RHEL) and virtualised environments (vSphere/vCenter)
- Support and maintain secure infrastructure across on-premise, cloud and air-gapped environments
- Build and manage AWS cloud infrastructure and associated secure services
- Develop and maintain automation using Ansible, scripting and Infrastructure as Code tooling
- Monitor infrastructure performance, troubleshoot incidents and perform root cause analysis
- Support deployments, patching and system upgrades with minimal disruption
- Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams and operational procedures
- Ensure infrastructure complies with CIS security standards and security best practice
- Collaborate with support and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues
- Research, evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve system performance, resilience and security
Skills and Experience
- Advanced Linux system administration with practical experience in scripting (e.g. Bash, Python) and automation using Ansible.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP), PKI/certificate management, and virtualisation (VMware).
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS) and containerised environments (Docker).
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK) and version control systems.
- Working knowledge of cross domain solutions and operating within secure, air-gapped environments.
- Solid grasp of CI/CD principles and infrastructure as code in secure environments.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills with a customer-focused mindset.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a Linux or Infrastructure Engineering environment
- Experience with scripting and automation using Bash, Python or similar
- Strong networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS and secure networking concepts
- Understanding of PKI, certificate management and secure communications
- Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere/vCenter
- Knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and containerised environments (e.g. Docker)
- Experience using Ansible and Infrastructure as Code methodologies
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Prometheus or ELK
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills within complex infrastructure environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a proactive, customer-focused approach
- Experience operating within secure or air-gapped environments
- Familiarity with cross domain solutions
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and secure deployment practices
- Experience supporting highly available or mission-critical systems
- Understanding of security hardening and CIS compliance standards

Qualifications & Eligibility
To be eligible for this position you must:
- Have 2–5+ years’ experience in a Linux, Infrastructure or Platform Engineering role; and,
- Be a British citizen; and
- Hold or be eligible for UK National Security Vetting (NSV) - DV level clearance.
