The Role
This is a Senior Full Stack Engineer position within a newly formed team tasked with building the next generation of a flagship trading platform in partnership with Amazon Web Services. This is a rare opportunity to work on a greenfield build at global scale, collaborating directly with AWS engineers and learning from some of the best technical minds in the industry. You will take full ownership of your work across design, development, testing and deployment, working closely with Principal Engineers, Architects and Leads to ensure successful delivery into production environments. As a Senior Engineer you will also play an active role in mentoring junior team members and driving engineering standards across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive engineering improvements and communicate the principles behind your decisions to the wider team and organisation
- Support the team's engagement in a well-defined software development lifecycle covering planning, prioritisation and delivery
- Lead estimation conversations by drawing on experience, challenging requirements and fostering creative solutions
- Shape conversations around software systems architecture and contribute meaningfully to broader technical direction
- Evolve systems towards target state architecture through thoughtful refactoring and delivery prioritisation
- Take ownership of assigned work from design through to production deployment
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence
What You'll Need
Essential:
- 5 or more years of demonstrable full stack or frontend/backend engineering experience in TypeScript within a professional environment
Frontend:
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 and TypeScript
- Strong experience with React, Redux and React Query
- Understanding of cross-browser compatibility
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, GraphQL and WebSockets
- Experience with CSS tooling such as Tailwind
- Working knowledge of Git
Backend:
- Proficiency in backend TypeScript and/or another OOP language such as C# or Java
- Strong database knowledge across SQL and NoSQL
- Experience with RESTful and GraphQL APIs and WebSockets
- Familiarity with microservices architecture
- Experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code
- Exposure to automated testing
- AWS experience including Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway and AppSync
