Full Time – 37 hours per week - Fixed Term (18 months). A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Project Surveyor to join The Major Projects Team at Bristol City Council. Based within Homes & Landlord Services, you will play a lead role in the delivery of the Council’s cladding remediation programme across its high-rise blocks.
What will I be doing
The Major Projects Team is responsible for the maintenance and refurbishment of the Council’s high rise blocks of flats, ensuring safe, warm and secure homes for our residents. We are delivering an accelerated external cladding remediation programme across 24 high-rise blocks. The programme seeks to remove unsafe cladding and external wall insulation from these blocks and replace it with compliant, non-combustible systems, with completion targeted by the end of 2029. This programme is funded through Homes England’s Cladding Safety Scheme and is being delivered in partnership with Turner & Townsend and their appointed contractors. It is structured in two phases:
Working closely with Turner & Townsend you will support the appointed contractors in overseeing the delivery of the remediation work. This will require significant periods of time out on site during the mobilisation, delivery and completion of the works. You will collaborate with architects, planners and construction consultants throughout the duration of assigned projects. Ideally you should also have knowledge and experience in retrofit cladding systems.
At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation. For the majority of our roles hybrid working arrangements are available, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice – mixing both home and office working.
Join us and you’ll receive an excellent rewards package including flexible working and flexitime, membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and a generous annual leave allowance. In addition, you’ll be working in a supportive environment where you’ll have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.
If you share our values and are ready to be part of our exciting journey please select the apply button below. To be shortlisted for interview you’ll need to demonstrate how you meet each of the essential criteria in the Person Specification within the Further Information section of your application. On occasion we may shortlist against the desirable criteria as well; if you can, please demonstrate how you meet this in your application.
If you would like to discuss the role in more detail please contact Andy Gilborson on 07920 414355 or at Andrew.Gilborson@bristol.gov.uk.
At Bristol City Council, we value having a workforce as diverse as the city we serve. We therefore welcome, develop and promote people from all sections of the community. Appointments will be made on merit.
